The band 10,000 Maniacs filmed their 1997 music video for “More Than This” at the House on the Rock Wisconsin. Scenes from the video show the self-playing piano and, of course, the big carousel. Season 3 of American Gods aired in 2021, and that proved to be the show’s final season.

These early structures feature exposed stone, low ceilings, dark woodwork, and antiques on display. Lastly, remember to stock up on tokens at the main entrance when you purchase your tickets. The facility is non-smoking, except for a few designated outdoor areas. Characters on the show American Gods, which filmed here, did actually get to ride the carousel. The days of operation of the House on the Rocks vary throughout the year. It is closed from the start of January to early March, when the spring opening days start (open Thursday to Monday and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). The house is open daily in the summer (from May to September), but reduced days apply again in fall and during the Christmas season. Check the House on the Rock’s website before visiting to make sure it is open. The "House" and its surrounding warehouses take several hours to walk through, even at a brisk pace.
I had heard there was this weird place in Spring Green, Wisconsin with all these weird items in display in a bunch of different weird rooms, but details beyond that were sketchy. Make a pit stop at this 5,300-acre park and leisurely walk down the half-mile trail to Stephens Falls. If you want to spend some time outside, take the day to explore the nearly 40 miles of hiking trails or have a swim at one of the park’s two lakes.
Spring Green is close enough to take a day trip from Chicago as well. Is the House on the Rock Wisconsin attraction a place you should travel great distances to visit? But definitely stop by if you’re in the area on a road trip. Jordan finally opened the House to visitors in 1960, charging 50 cents admission. Over time, the Wisconsin attraction has grown to receive more than a million visitors annually. You can see that there’s not much difference in cost between options 1 and 2, so I recommend going with the Ultimate Experience in order to see everything.
The Streets of Yesterday room was built in 1971 and modeled after an exhibit from the Milwaukee Public Museum. The musical instrument rooms might be my favorite part of the House on the Rock. There are a bunch of instruments that play on their own, thanks to machines. Here’s the rundown of the various rooms currently on display at the House on the Rock attraction. Admission price for the full tour in Spring Green is $33 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $18 for kids over age 7. Kids under 7 used to be free, but they are now charged $5.
